Colt is feeling Knostalgic
amatuer (a-mə-tər) noun
one who engages in a pursuit, especially a sport, on an unpaid rather than professional basis
a person who is incompetent or inept at a particular activity
Colt, ball gargler, Knost is NEITHER of these things. He, however, has applied to regain his amateur status so he can compete in tourneys like the Mid-Am. It takes 7 years from your last professional tournament to regain status and he is not yet eligible (last played in the Phoenix Open in 2020), but boy is he chomping at the bit to kick some weekend warrior ass. Knost says his ultimate goal is to be able to captain the Walker Cup team, which doesn't state he has to be an amateur (although it generally has been), but I think he's tired of being the butt of the joke in his professional friend circle. You can only coddle JT's and Spieth's balls so much before they want a new whipping post. I'm sure his ass is worn out too.
Bottom line. You cannot allow former professional golfers, with over $5M in career earnings, $4.3 of those on the PGA Tour, to play in amateur events. These guys haven't sniffed the success a guy like Colt has had. He won the US Am at 22 for christ sakes! He beat the final boss at this level. Just because he got tripped up on higher difficulty, doesn't mean you restart the game from the beginning. This isn't PGA2K25.
Give it up man. You've reached some extremely high highs and still hang in those circles. Leave some on the bone for the rest of us Colt!
Sincerely,
An amateur
